Over the Covid19 shutdown in 2020, we obtained funding from the NY State Star program for a visit to the Rochester Institute of Technology Environmental Chamber, about the size of a small room. The goal was to revisit the Proof of Concept, only this time to cover the entire range of ambient air temperatures from 90 – 60 degrees Fahrenheit for distances out to 36 inches. This plot turned out to be a basis for an Artificial Intelligence program to determine the correct temperature using 49 edge technology data points. This new chart has changed the nature of the infrared sensor so much that it’s worthy of a distinct name: AI enabled infrared distance thermometer.

Also, the original Proof of Concept mentioned below was validated by two human trials conducted during the dissertation with a total count of 60 humans (men, women, and seniors as participants) by using 36 inches as the default distance and the default room temperature of 78 F. Results were reported to the Pace University Institute Review Board.
